So, today was the real-deal 5K (which turned out to be 3.6 miles, or more like a 5.8K). I was so nervous, but I ended up having the best day ever

The weather was perfect. It was sunny, the leaves were stunning, it got up to about 70 degrees (which is like summer in Vermont)...couldnapos;t have made a better day if I had tried Some friends also came out to run/cheer, so that was great. And the run...was awesome. It was so beautiful out and so perfect. It was fun to run with A LOT of other people because it helped me keep up the pace. And I really pushed myself (at the behest of my crazy aerobics instructor) which means I TOTALLY ANNIHILATED my previous best times. I actually averaged out to less than 10 minutes per mile, which I have never done before. I know thatapos;s not exactly stellar for a "real" runner, but for me? Thatapos;s amazing. I was so happy when I finished (and relieved that it went well...) that I was jumping around and felt like I could have run the whole race again :)

And other bonuses: the race was at Harpoon Breweryapos;s Oktoberfest - which means I got free sausage and free beer And a free stein Okay, Josh had the sausage, but we shared the beer - hard cider, Octoberfest, and Munich Dark style...YUM (and crunk) I also had potato pancakes with applesauce. And I petted 100 puppies

After the festival, Josh and I drove up to the Northeast Kingdom (the REALLY BFI part of Vermont - we were right on the Canadian border) for some moose-spotting...and we had great success We saw a big bull moose right before the sun started to set. He was awesome. We named him "King Moose."

All-in-all, it was a super awesome day. I even had fun on the drive just talking with Josh and being relaxed and happy. I really needed this and it was wonderful. :) Hurrah for happiness

Well, the next two days are fall break, but I have lots to do to catch up on work and prepared for the symposium, WHICH IS FRIDAY So itapos;s a good thing I had a nice day today.
